After deciding to undergo an elective aesthetic surgical procedure, you may find yourself faced with many difficult questions to answer and decisions to make. One of the first decisions that you may encounter is deciding which surgeon to choose. In order to make this process easier, you may want to ask yourself, “Is this surgeon a CosmetAssure Participating Physician?” Choosing a CosmetAssure Participating Physician shows you that this particular surgeon has taken the additional steps toward protecting his/her patients in the event that a medical complication occurs. While medical complications are rare, they can occur and become a financial burden to you.
Today, the majority of major medical health insurance policies do not cover elective aesthetic surgery. Therefore, if medical complications arise from these elective surgeries, most health insurance policies will also not cover you for the treatment of your complication. This leaves you with having to pay out-of-pocket for the treatment of a complication and a medical bill can quickly escalate. CosmetAssure was developed in order to relieve you and your surgeon of these unnecessary distractions. The CosmetAssure program covers certain medical complications that can occur during or after undergoing the 17 Covered Procedures.
CosmetAssure is only available to patients of Participating Physicians. CosmetAssure Participating Physicians must be certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery (or have passed the written portion of the Board exam and waiting to take the oral portion) as well as be an Active Member or Candidate Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). CosmetAssure is one of only 11 products that the ASPS endorse for the safety of their surgeon’s patients.
