If I am having an elective aesthetic surgical procedure soon, but I do not see my surgeon on the CosmetAssure website, may I obtain coverage directly from CosmetAssure?

No, the CosmetAssure program is designed only for patients of Plastic Surgeons who have applied and qualified for the program. If you do not see your current surgeon’s name on our website, it may not be too late for him/her to apply for our program prior to your surgery.

I already have health insurance. Do I still need CosmetAssure coverage?

Yes, the majority of major medical insurance policies have excluded payment for complications if they are the result of an elective cosmetic procedure, even if medically necessary.

What do I have to do to qualify for CosmetAssure?

You must be a patient of one of the CosmetAssure Participating Physicians, as well as, be scheduled to have one or more of the 17 Covered Procedures listed on the website. This procedure or procedures must be performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.

My insurance is paying for my original elective aesthetic surgical procedure. Do I still qualify for CosmetAssure?

No, you must have an elective aesthetic surgical procedure that is one of the 17 covered by CosmetAssure on a fee-for-service basis.

Does CosmetAssure cover my expenses incurred from a re-do if I do not approve of the aesthetic outcome of my procedure?

CosmetAssure is designed to cover certain medical complications. Dissatisfaction with the aesthetic outcome is not a Covered Complication and is not listed as a medical complication in the Qualifying Admissions on the CosmetAssure policy.

What is an Incurral Period?

The Incurral Period is the period of time (30 days) within which a Covered complication must occur and be treated in a Hospital, ER, or an Accredited Surgery Center in order for Benefits to be paid.

When does my 30 day Incurral Period begin?

The 30 day Incurral Period begins immediately following the administration of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation in preparation of a covered Procedure.

Can I opt-out of coverage?

No, this is a benefit to you as a patient for choosing a CosmetAssure Participating Physician. This Physician has chosen to provide all of his/her patients with this benefit if the patient qualifies. He/she is very aware that the vast majority of Major Medical Health insurance policies do not cover complications of an elective aesthetic procedure, even if medically necessary.

If my own health insurance provides coverage for medical complications following plastic surgery, will CosmetAssure cover my co-pay and/or deductible?

Yes, CosmetAssure Benefits are Primary. Therefore, we will pay the first dollar up to our maximums as denoted in the list of CosmetAssure Benefits.
