“CosmetAssure removes the financial risk from elective surgery. No matter how good the surgeon, a percentage of patients WILL have complications. Some may require medical attention above Dr. Dixon’s care and expense. CosmetAssure allows peace of mind for the patient and the surgeon. Regardless of a patient’s insurance coverage, CosmetAssure allows the physician to provide the best level of follow up care and removes the financial worries from the process.
Dr. Dixon was covering for another plastic surgeon that had left town. He was called by the E. R. to see a patient who had developed a post operative infection after her tummy tuck. He had to take her to surgery to debreid the wound. Although he did not charge the patient as a courtesy to the other plastic surgeon, the O.R. and hospital expenses were over $ 14,000.00 for her three day stay. Her private insurance did not cover any of the expenses because they have a caveat that does not cover complications from elective cosmetic procedures. This patient is STILL paying for her hospital bills (2 years later). There is no way to “financially plan” for a possible complication…that’s why ALL of Dr. Dixon’s patients who have elective cosmetic procedures are covered through CosmetAssure.
